Condition
Fatty Liver
Fatty liver disease involves excess fat accumulating in the liver. The metabolic form historically called NAFLD is also increasingly referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Many people have few or no symptoms; when symptoms occur, tiredness or discomfort in the upper-right abdomen may occur.
How is Fatty Liver evaluated?
Evaluation may involve medical history, physical examination, blood tests and imaging. In selected situations, additional testing such as liver biopsy may be considered to clarify the type or severity of liver disease.
A fatty-liver finding on an ultrasound or blood-test abnormality should therefore be interpreted in the broader clinical context rather than treated as a complete diagnosis by itself.

FAQ
Does Fatty Liver always cause symptoms?
No. Many people have few or no symptoms.
Can Fatty Liver improve?
For metabolic fatty liver disease, gradual weight loss where medically appropriate, healthy eating and physical activity can reduce liver fat and may improve inflammation or fibrosis. Management should be individualized.
Do I need Endoscopy for Fatty Liver?
Fatty liver alone does not establish a need for Endoscopy. Testing depends on the actual clinical problem.
