Health Problem
High Creatinine
Creatinine is a waste product produced through normal muscle metabolism. The kidneys remove creatinine from the blood, and serum creatinine is used as an input for estimating kidney filtration through eGFR. As kidney function worsens, creatinine commonly rises.
High Creatinine is a finding, not a complete diagnosis
A creatinine result should be interpreted alongside factors such as eGFR, previous results, clinical history and urine testing. eGFR is generally more informative about filtration than serum creatinine alone.

Important clinical note
High Creatinine does not automatically mean Dialysis.
Dialysis decisions are based on the broader severity of kidney failure, symptoms and clinical situation, not a single creatinine number.
