Condition
Pancreatitis
Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas and may be acute or chronic. A major symptom is upper abdominal pain that may spread to the back. Acute pancreatitis may also cause nausea, vomiting, fever, a fast heartbeat and abdominal tenderness; chronic pancreatitis may be associated with persistent pain, digestive problems or weight loss.
Diagnosis
Evaluation may involve medical history, examination, blood tests and imaging such as ultrasound, CT, MRI/MRCP or other investigations depending on the clinical situation.
